Goddess & God of the Month
This Month we honor Hathor the Egyptian Mother Goddess, and Horus the Egyptian Sun God.
Hathor
As Queen of the Heavens this particular Goddess
was considered self created.
Hathor was viewed by the Egyptians as having
seven aspects. These aspects corresponds to the seven planets. It was her duty to carry a mirror, sistrum, tambourine, and the eye of Ra.
Her appearance was that of a cow headed woman. Using the tambourine as an instrument she would drive away evil spirits that would attack the dead.
As the Queen Mother she protected the dead, families, flowers artists, astrology , the Moon, and Sky.
On December 23rd she is honored for her role in helping Isis with the entombment of Osiris.
Horus
Born on December 25th this God appears to be the beginning of the Sun Gods. His mother Isis, after the death of Osiris, contrived to bear a son for her long lost love.
It was with this intent that Horus was concieved. A long line of Virgin births, Horus' arrival marked the ever going battle of night and day.
Throughout his lifetime Horus had to do battle with Set, his jealous Uncle. Set was determined to destroy the rightful heir to Egypt.
Horus at the age of 33 was crucified, and buried. On the third day he arose and joined hands with his father Osiris, the God of the Moon and the dead.
